What is the Essential for Success- Luck or Effort?
In our society, we find many people who do not believe in fate at all, yet they are thoughtful and reflective. On the other hand, many others insist that people tend to blame fate, often saying, “Everything is already written; what can we do?”
Among these two types of individuals, we observe distinct tendencies. The first type often becomes arrogant, believing himself to be solely in control, while the second leans towards indolence, placing everything in the hands of the unseen.
This essay, therefore, seeks to address the need to bridge these opposing mindsets. In the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, the Supreme Lord Sri Krishna outlines five factors essential to the completion of any action.
The position and the doer and the doing are different.
There are many different kinds of efforts, and the fifth is the fifth of the four. (Gita:18.14)
Adhisthan means body, Karta means title or person, various kinds of Karana through which action is performed ie senses, various efforts and Daiva means Paramatma – these five are the causes.
